Continuous Innovation Approach
The development of Interligare as a group is advancing by means of various projects and teams: Interligare as the foremost business platform which gives name to the group and nucleus in which the research and development activity resides; JMJLab as the business platform responsible for the design and management of innovation and resulting products; The InstituteI4 as a key element for the development of applied research, a nexus and directly related to the university’s investigation programme.
This structure corresponds to the product-centric continuous innovation model established on the basis of Interligare works in this field and the accumulated experiences of the last years which answer the equation R+D+D=I (Research + Design + Development = Innovation). This solvable equation makes clear the R+D+I statement, where there is a lack “design”, and processes and results are mixed in the conclusion.
In our project the equation R+D+D=I is substituted by business or academic platforms with clear and distinctive function: InstituteI4 + JMJlab + Interligare = Innovation of use to service companies and non-profit institutions which represent all the business models with possible services to be generated with the innovation results.
The following are some of the differential elements used when creating continuous innovation projects:
- The principal aim of the innovation project is to develop the basic research dynamic guidance which have a great potential to be applied in all aspects of society. In the case of Interligare the principal dynamic guidance is the design of dynamic complex systems with predictive behaviour and in particular – their application to the creation of coherent socio-technical systems able to normalize the deployment process and to constitute highly efficient, auto-reparative, self preserving organisations, that is to say an evolutive system.
- The design is the unifying factor of the plans and research projects, the development and application of the resulting assets.
- The business platforms are the result of the innovation projects, their character is essential, not definitive, and their task is to make explicit the innovation project dynamic guidance.
- The start-up process is long and does not require intensive initial investments as from the beginning its objective is to provide continuous innovation results in the form of products and services that bring in an income, auto finance the project and progressively offer functions of use and value for the end consumer.
In short, a continuous innovation focus is an intellectual adventure, complex to manage, continuous and progressive, where the dynamic guidance is the key element impelling in our case the creation of systems which permit the creation, functioning, setting up and evolving of coherent, evolutive and highly efficient human organisations utilising intelligent design as a key factor in the innovation process.
